Finding your School or Trust

A list of all the boards/accounts you are a member of is displayed on the left-hand side of the screen. Click through from here, to access your school, trust or board account.

Trust Resources or Local Authority Governor Services:

If you are part of a Multi-Academy Trust, you may have a link here to the shared 'Trust Resources' area.

Likewise, if your school or trust has a subscription with a local authority, governor services or clerking service, you may also have a link here which will take you to their area on GovernorHub.

Upcoming Events:

The upcoming events from your boards are displayed on the right-hand side of the screen, along with links to documents and video meetings, if they have been included in the calendar event.

Sending out messages on the Noticeboard

The noticeboard is the primary communication tool for board members on GovernorHub. It allows you to post messages to the entire board, specific committees, or individual members, ensuring effective communication.

Posting Messages:

Posting a message on the Noticeboard is an easy way to communicate with your board members. All noticeboard messages are visible for everyone on the account to see.

Email Notifications:

Although everyone can see the messages when they log in, you can choose to notify recipients via a notification email too. You can send the emails out to everyone (this is the default option), or choose a particular committee, or select individual members to receive the email.

Sharing Documents via the Noticeboard:

You can share a link to a document or folder, via your Noticeboard message. To include a document link in your noticeboard message, follow this guide: How to Share a File to the Noticeboard.

The noticeboard on GovernorHub is a versatile communication tool, allowing for clear and organized messaging among board members, with customizable notification settings.

Finding your Board Documents on GovernorHub

Each board on GovernorHub has its own Documents tab. Governors can search for and find their documents here, and it can be organized according to your boards preferences.

Depending on how your board is set up, there may be some folders which are restricted to a particular committee or group, and you may only have access to them if you are part of that committee.

Viewing Documents:

  • Simply click on a document to view it within the GovernorHub platform — no download is required - it opens in a preview window online, for you to read.

  • If enabled, you can also print a copy of the document directly from the viewer.

Adding Documents or Weblinks:

Additional Options Menu (three dots):

  • On the right-hand side of a file or folder, you’ll find a menu (three dots) which contains additional options to apply to the document or folder, such as the option to download a copy, or share the document on the Noticeboard.

Properly organizing and managing documents on GovernorHub ensures efficient access and collaboration. Utilize the available features to keep your board’s documents well-structured and easily accessible.

Using the Calendar in GovernorHub

The Calendar tab on your board page is a shared place to find your upcoming meetings and events, visible to all board members. It offers multiple views and useful features for managing and accessing meeting information efficiently.

Views:

The calendar can be viewed in various formats, including a List view, by Month, Week or Day.

Meeting Details:

  • Click on a meeting event to find out:

    • Who the event is for

    • Time, date and location

    • Who is clerking the meeting

    • Where the papers are, with a link to the document folder

    • Video meeting link (if added)

Calendar Subscription:

It is possible to subscribe to a calendar, so the events pull through into your linked external devices e.g. your governor meeting can show up in your Gmail or Outlook calendar.

The calendar tab is a powerful tool for organizing and accessing meeting details. With options to subscribe and sync with your personal calendar, it ensures you stay informed across all your boards.

The Governing Board tab

The Governing Board tab is your membership page. It provides an overview of your board's members, their roles, and essential administrative functions. It includes options for managing roles, committees, and compliance effectively.

Please note, this tab may be called something else, depending on your boards preferences; such as 'Local Academy Committee' or 'Board Members'.

On the Governing Board Tab:

Member List

All members listed on the board account will be shown here, along with any appointment details recorded such as type of appointment (Parent Governor/Co-Opted Governor etc) and terms of office dates.

Roles such as Chair, Headteacher or Clerk are also displayed alongside each member’s name.

Admin Rights

Members with administrative rights are identified by a green Admin tag under their names. Governors do not need admin rights to use the site.
