N.B. We've recently switched from SMS to a more secure MFA method (TOTP), read our guide on how to switch from SMS to TOTP on your account if you have already started using the old method.
Follow these steps to set up MFA on your GovernorHub account from scratch:
First things first, you need to make sure you have an authenticator app or in-browser tool installed to generate a new 6 number code (Time Based One Time Password) each time you login.
You may already have an authenticator installed on your device or browser already that you use for other applications (if so you can move straight to step 2).
If you don't then you can download a free authenticator app from the Apple / Play store or in-browser. We can recommend Authy & Google Authenticator (Android / iOS) or Microsoft Authenticator
Once you have your authenticator app installed - log in to GovernorHub the usual way. Then click on your name in the top right hand corner and select Profile
Click on settings:
Then choose 'privacy and security':
Scroll down and click on 'update your password or Sign In settings':
A new tab will now open in your browser. Click on the pencil next to two-factor authentication:
Next you will see this setup screen:
This image is for information only and shouldn't be scanned.
Go to your authenticator app on your phone (such as Authy or Google Authenticator which are available for Android or iOS). Open the app on your phone and scan the QR code (the square design as above).
Or, if you are using an in-browser tool (such as Authenticator extension for Google Chrome). Copy the code at the bottom into the in-browser tool.
7. Whether using an app or in-browser tool, you will be given a 6-digit code by your authenticator. Please copy this code into the box shown back on GovernorHub and click verify.
8. TOTP is now set-up. If you have any issues at all when setting this up. please contact support@governorhub.com where we will be happy to help you!
