Who can set up MFA on my account?

The MFA settings can be set up in a few different ways:

  • The individual user can turn on MFA for their account

  • The governing board may enforce MFA for all users on the board account

  • The trust may enforce MFA for all users on all boards

  • The governor service may enforce MFA for boards in its service

How do I know if MFA is set up on my account?

You can check whether MFA is turned on for your account by:

  • Clicking on your profile in the top corner

  • Selecting the Admin tab

  • Looking at the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and MFA Enforcement sections

If MFA is enabled on your account, the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) section will tell you the date and time which it was turned on.

It will also have a green MFA Enabled tick.

If MFA is not enabled on your account, it will show MFA Not Enabled and provide you with an option to set it up.

How do I know which boards require me to have MFA?

The MFA Enforcement section will show you which of your boards require its users to have MFA on their accounts.

If no boards show under this section, turning on MFA for your account is optional. If you remove the MFA settings, you will be able to log in with an email and password instead.

If you are a user on a board that requires MFA to be set up on your account, the boards will be shown in this section, as well as whether this was set up by the Governing Board admins, Trust Board admins, or a governor service.

If you are a user on any board that has enforced MFA then you will be required to use MFA when you log in.

Disabling MFA from your account will allow you access back in to GovernorHub, but you will be required to set up MFA again when you next log in.
