We’re moving from text message codes to a new, improved system called Time-Based One-Time Password (TOTP). This might sound technical, but it’s simply a secure code that changes every time you sign in, and you’ll get it through a free app on your smartphone or an in-browser tool.

Not set up any two factor authentication yet?
Read our guide on how to start from scratch and set up TOTP on your account.

Follow these steps to move from SMS codes and set up TOTP on your GovernorHub account:

1. After signing in to GovernorHub as normal with your password and SMS code, you will see the following message pop up:

Click 'Setup TOTP' to continue.

2. Next you will see this setup screen:

You can continue to set up TOTP by:

  • using an authenticator app on your phone (such as Authy or Google Authenticator which are available for Android or iOS). Open the authentication app on your phone and scan the QR code shown on your screen:

  • Or, using an in-browser tool (such as Authenticator extension for Google Chrome or Microsoft Authenticator). Copy the code shown on your screen into the in-browser tool.

3. Whether using an app or in-browser tool, you will be given a 6-digit code by your authenticator. Please copy this code and click verify.

4. TOTP is now set-up.
