GovernorHub has a space to record your Companies House personal code, on your profile page.

Do I need to fill this in?

Only members, trustees and persons with significant control (PSC) in academy trusts need to obtain a Companies House personal code. This is mandatory from November 2025. If you are in a maintained school or on a local board of a multi academy trust you can leave this blank.

I'm a member / trustee / PSC - what do I need to do?

Members, trustees and other persons with significant control should verify their identity with Companies House.

You'll receive a personal code when you've completed the process, which you can save under your profile to allow your trust to use it when filing company documents.

Your Admin will be able to evidence that this information is recorded, by using the 'Compliance checks' download.

How do I record my Companies House personal code on GovernorHub?

To add a record of your Companies House personal code, you'll need to log in to GovernorHub and select your profile in the top right corner, by clicking on your name.

Under the Governor Information box is the Companies House personal code space.

Select the Edit button to open up the editing window.

Add in your Companies House personal code and select Update to save the changes.

I'm not part of a trust and don't need to track this information

The Companies House personal code is only required for academy trusts. If your board is not part of an academy trust, you can leave this code blank. It's not possible to remove the personal code box from your profile, as this is automatically applied to all users - you can ignore the box if you don't need to fill it in.

You can download the compliance report as an Excel file and remove the column for the personal code from the spreadsheet if it's not needed on the report.
