Communicating effectively across your trust

Learn how to save time and avoid duplication by sending messages and communicating with groups of users at the same time across your Trust.

Written by Jane Lowe

GovernorHub has flexible options on how you communicate to your governors and trustees. These are all done through the Noticeboard but which noticeboard you use can dictate who is notified about what.

PLEASE NOTE: We use terms such as governing board and LGB and Trust Board but we know that different trusts use different terminology such as Committee Board, Hub board etc.

Communicating with a single board

If you want to send a message to a single board (eg the Trust Board or one of your LGBs you can go to the chosen noticeboard for that particular board.

Please read this article below for how to communicate with a single board.

Communicating with multiple boards

As a trust admin, you can also choose to send the same message to multiple boards within your trust.

The admin tab in Resources allows you to post the same message on multiple boards in your trust and to view noticeboard posts for selected boards all in once place.

You can choose which boards you'd like to see posts for by selecting them from the drop down menu.

This will then show all the recent noticeboard posts from these boards.

Any pinned posts for these noticeboards have been hidden behind an accordion so you can focus on the most recent.

The number of pinned posts will show in brackets and you can view them by clicking on the arrow.

You can then choose to post to these selected boards using the blue send a post button.

The selection of boards you have already chosen to view will be carried over, so you keep this selection or change it at any time by clicking on the grey box. You can also choose the select all button if you want to post a message to all boards.

Clicking the send a post button will open up a box where you can type your message which will be posted to all boards you have selected.

Select Post to post your message to these noticeboards in one click.

Communicating with everyone across your Trust

Sometimes you have a message or post that you want everyone across your trust to receive. This could be a governance newsletter or briefing or some other news for all governors and trustees across your trust.

You can post an article on the News page by clicking on Write a new article.

This will open a new box for you to create the article in.

Sending the News out via email

You can also choose for the news article to go out as an email to everyone in the trust (All Subscribers) by using the dropdown menu in the bottom right corner.

Depending on the options you have set up on the admin site there may be other options available for emails, such as Chairs only, or Safeguarding governors only.

Anything that is posted in the News tab of the Resources area will also appear on the main News feed (the News icon in the sidebar and the landing page when you first access GovernorHub) for everyone in the Trust Board and the Local Governing Boards.

It is also advisable to share the message to all noticeboards too as this will further alert governors and trustees to the important message. You can do this by clicking the three dot menu and selecting Share to Noticeboard.

This then allows you to share this post to all noticeboards so all governors are alerted.
